The role had been broadening for some time, as new applications were found for the specialist skills transition managers had developed. Late in 2003, the gradual evolution became, for some, a transformation. The catalyst for this transformation was the large number of investors waking up in the morning to find their investment managers the subject of unwelcome headlines. Swift action was the order of the day. This article will explain how a transition manager is able to act as an interim portfolio manager, providing flexible solutions rather than applying a standardized transition product to every situation.
